Chimney and fireplace care

Professional Chimney Sweep Service

Ember Chimney & Fireplace sweeps, inspects and repairs chimneys and installs and repairs fireplaces, from offices in Colleyville and Fort Worth, Texas, and Alpharetta, Georgia. Ember is a BBB Accredited Business, rated A.

Annual sweeping removes the creosote that builds up along the flue liner, the fuel behind most chimney fires. We sweep with rods and brushes sized to your flue while HEPA vacuums capture the dust, and we lay drop cloths before anything comes out of the fireplace. Regular fireplace cleaning also keeps smoke and fumes moving up the chimney instead of into the room.

Chimney Inspection

A chimney inspection checks the masonry, smoke chamber, damper, liner and the outside of the chimney for cracks, missing liner sections and water damage. A Level 2 inspection adds a camera scan of the flue and is the one to get before you buy or sell a home.

Chimney Repair

When storms, age or water get to the chimney, chimney repair fixes leaking flashing, rebuilds cracked crowns, repoints brickwork and replaces failed liners. Bigger brick and stone work is covered by masonry repair, and a chimney cap installation keeps rain, animals and debris out of the flue.

Fireplace Repair and Installation

Fireplace repair covers gas burners and pilots, dampers, cracked firebrick and glass doors. Fireplace installation covers gas log sets, fireplace inserts, gas fireplaces and wood stoves. We also clean dryer vents, the other fire risk in most homes.

How it works

Our Chimney Sweep Process, Step by Step

No guessing, no surprises. Here is what happens from your call to the photo report.

  1. 1

    Call or send the form

Tell us what is going on: a sweep, a leak, smoke in the room, gas logs that will not light. We book a time that works for you.

  2. 2

    Protect the room

Drop cloths go down and HEPA vacuums run while we work, so the soot stays in the chimney, not on your floor.

  3. 3

    Sweep and inspect

We sweep the flue, smoke chamber and firebox, then inspect the chimney top to bottom and photograph what we find.

  4. 4

    Photos and a written price

You see the photos. If something needs repair, you get a written price before any work starts, and nothing happens until you say yes.

Frequently asked questions

See every question →

What is included in the $149 Chimney Safety Package?

A chimney sweep of the flue, smoke chamber and firebox, a top-to-bottom chimney safety inspection, and a photo report of what we found. If you book a repair within 30 days, the full $149 is credited toward it. One per household.

How often do I need a chimney inspection and sweeping?

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that all solid-fuel heating appliances, venting networks, and chimneys must be inspected at least once a year. Regular sweeping prevents volatile creosote fires and guarantees optimal indoor air quality.

What does a standard chimney cleaning include?

Our dedicated teams use specialized heavy-duty industrial bristle brushes and advanced dual-line pulley configurations to thoroughly scrape your inner vents. We clear dangerous buildup from the flue liner, smoke chamber, and shelf.

What are Level 1 and Level 2 diagnostic scans?

A Level 1 inspection is a routine visual check of the readily accessible components. A Level 2 inspection includes a full video camera scan of the internal flue lining and is required during property transfers, system changes, or after severe weather.

What is creosote, and why is it dangerous?

Creosote is a highly combustible, toxic byproduct of burning wood that bakes onto your flue liner. If allowed to accumulate, it restricts draft performance, damages your infrastructure, and serves as the primary fuel source for dangerous chimney fires.

Why is a cracked chimney crown a major issue?

The concrete chimney crown seals the top of your masonry structure. When it cracks, rainwater penetrates the brickwork, leading to accelerated freeze-thaw damage, deteriorating mortar, and extensive interior water leaks.

Why should I invest in a professional chimney cap installation?

A premium stainless steel or copper chimney cap keeps out rainfall, destructive wild animals, nesting birds, and loose debris. Our custom-fitted caps also include integrated spark arrestor mesh screens to prevent stray embers from landing on your roof.

Is Ember Chimney & Fireplace BBB Accredited?

Yes. Ember Chimney & Fireplace is a BBB Accredited Business with an A rating. You can read our profile on bbb.org.

Where does Ember Chimney & Fireplace work?

We have offices in Colleyville and Fort Worth, Texas, and Alpharetta, Georgia, and serve the Dallas–Fort Worth area and metro Atlanta from them. Each office has its own page with its address, local phone number and map.
